Voice Actor
Self Employed or Contract?
Most famous voice actors on famous cartoon shows like The Simpsons are on contracts but if you’re not a famous voice actor than you’re either a freelancer or self-employed.
How much money would you make out of this?
The average salary for a Voice Actor in the UK is around £60,000 but if you’re have a lot of experience and have a highly recognizable voice, you’ll probably get paid more.
How many working hours?
Acting assignments are short term so they can be from 1 day to a few months and that means that actors have long periods of unemployment between jobs, Sometimes they have other jobs in between until the next job comes up.
What kind of training would you need for this job?
Most aspiring actors participate in school and college plays, work in college radio stations, or perform with local community theatre groups. As for those who want to do more dramatic training, either do a acting conservatory or a university program. Voice over artists sometimes seek private coaching from experienced professionals in preparation for creating a recording of several voice samples to send to agents when seeking representation.
Applying for the Job
Applying for this job is tricky as again there’s always “you need to be a member” option but I see an ad that came out on the 28/5/2012.
